A while ago I responded to an open call looking for pro-bono designers. The project was special.

A self-help group led by women in one of the eastern states of India was looking to market their product. This self-help group made school uniforms and now wanted to create a brand identity.

The logo was the first step towards creating it.

I created 3 samples. What would you pick?

Used muted tones and focussed on the creators — the women

I loved the focus on the creators — the women and decided to keep them at the centre of the design. Though I believe that this be whitewashed during a print job.

2.

Went all the way with bright colours. The idea was the logo should be recognizable with a bright colour. And the creators at the forefront.

3.

I used the state’s famous artform to give it a distinct identity. And I created small uniform icons. Personally, I find it busy with too many elements.

What’s your pick?

What will you choose?
