Daylio (https://daylio.net/) is one of my favourite applications. It is a mood tracker and a succinct journal in a clean UI.

I have been a power user for over a year (2+ entries per day on average) and here are the features that I love:

  1. Streak

I do understand that maintaining continuity is rewarding but the simple feature of showing my longest chain ( I don’t want to break it) and streak makes me use the app more. It’s simple and conveys the message.

Sidenote: I also love the monthly mood chart visualization.

2. Rewards

Love these badges and rewards which can be shared socially. The social sharing element is great but I personally like how streak or continuity is rewarded throughout the app.

3. Analytics

This is where it gets powerful. The reports will tell give you a breakdown as to when you were the happiest, average weekly mood and even the activities that made you the happiest. (The app has some activities which you can select while selecting how you feel)

Example: Post working out with my friends at the gym, I’m usually feeling ‘Good’ or 4/5

Some features that I would love to see:

a) Add a wellness section to the app
Whenever a user clicks feeling ‘Meh’, ‘Bad’ or ‘Awful’, a prompt from the wellness section can be helpful. Another aspect can be customized wellness prompts to engage me in an activity that makes me feel better. Eg. If I click feeling ‘Meh’, the push notification can send me a tiny message ‘Spend time with family/Call home’ as it usually makes me feel better.

b) Adding a photo feature
It can function as a photo diary as well
