Product Feature: Forest App
Forest App (https://www.forestapp.cc/) is a popular productivity app that combines gamification and clean design to help you stay focussed. In a life filled with distinctions and short memory spans, this app tries to get the user to focus by giving the reward of a tree being planted.
There are a few features which I loved:
A) Timeline Feature
This shows how frequently I have used the app and in the premium version, it shows the time analytics as well. It is a good feature to nudge the user to use the app more frequently.
2. Store
I’m from the Farmville generation and this reminds me of that :)
The store rewards the consistency of the user (measured by coins) and offers aesthetic trees to add to your forest. Good incentive to make the user use the product more.
Although I love apps which don’t have a feature overdose, I would love to see the following:
- Setting targets in the forest app -> Setting a daily target to do focussed work for at least 1 hour.
- Small animated designs — trees swinging in the air can improve the focussed work as it gives the illusion of a tree which is alive :)
